Aligners

The Invisalign System is a series of clear overlay templates called aligners that have been generated by computer simulation to gradually move the teeth. This system is available to adult patients and some teenagers with certain orthodontic bite problems. Ask us if you are a candidate for the Invisalign System.

Invisalign For Adults

Invisalign

Teen

Teenagers will find Invisalign to be comfortable, cosmetic, and very hygienic. Unlike standard braces, clear aligners are detachable. Your child will be free to eat their routine diet, be active with sports, play musical instruments, and brush/floss without any unusual hassle. Furthermore, onlookers are less likely to notice the clear aligners. Every week your child will automatically switch to the next aligner within their supply gradually shifting the teeth into the desired alignment. In time, your child will have a beautiful smile free of the inconveniences of normal braces.

Early Treatment

Though an orthodontist can enhance a smile at any age, there is an optimal time period to begin treatment. Beginning treatment at this time ensures the greatest result and the least amount of time and expense. The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that the initial orthodontic evaluation should occur at the first sign of orthodontic problems or no later than age 7. Adult Treatment

Tooth alignment can be changed at any age if your gums and bone structure are healthy. Orthodontic treatment at later stages in life can dramatically improve your personal appearance and self-esteem. Improving the health of your teeth and gums is equally important. Crooked teeth and a bad bite can contribute to gum and bone loss, tooth decay, abnormal wear of the tooth enamel and surfaces, headaches and jaw joint (TMJ/TMD) pain. Types of Braces

Metal

Metal braces are the most common type. Their high predictability of success has been proven over and over for decades. Today’s metal braces are smaller, more comfortable and more attractive. There are many reasons to choose braces. The Most popular reason is lower responsibility. Since the braces are attached to the teeth, patients only need to clean well and monitor their diet.

Types of Braces

Clear

Ceramic braces are made of translucent (clear) material. They are equally effective as metal braces and offer the same level of certainty when it comes to the treatment. Although they are most popular with adult patients, due to their cosmetic appeal, clear braces may also be used by children and teenagers.

Invisalign

iTero

iTero is a revolutionary device that eliminates the need for putty mold. Instead, a wand apparatus will scan and create a digital impression of your teeth. After the scan is complete, your orthodontist can show you a simulation of your future smile. All of this is done within a single visit, with your doctor ready to answer any questions that you may have.

TMJ

TMJ orthodontics focuses on care for the muscles in your jaw. At times, misplaced alignments can cause severe pain and discomfort. Our orthodontists will discern the source and recommend a solution suited to you.

Surgical Orthodontics

After the jaw has fully developed, you may notice trouble with your ability to bite or speak. This may be caused by skeletal issues that have misaligned the jaw or caused improper growth. Surgical Orthodontics is used to fix the abnormalities that impact your jaw’s ability to function. The first step is to consult with a doctor and see if Surgical Orthodontics is the path for you.

Retention

When orthodontic treatment has completed, your retention stage will begin. Retention is a lifetime commitment. Dental changes are natural with the course of life and, therefore, a great smile is typically maintained by wearing a retainer at night time while you sleep. There are several different types of retainers and each patient will benefit most with a bite analysis and retainer chosen by the doctor.

We offer several different types of retainers:

  • Clear retainers that fit over the entire arch of teeth, similar to Invisalign trays
  • Traditional Hawley retainers that are a combination of metal wires and acrylic
  • Fixed retainers that are cemented directly to the inside surface of your lower canines

If your retainer breaks or is lost at any time, please do not adjust it yourself. Call us immediately to schedule an emergency appointment.
